The unarchiver3/7/2023 ![]() So i am temporarily using command line tools to do the operations. Now, randomly I get a notofication about the encoding the compressed file uses. Before the last two versions, I could choose ‘Compress “some directory”’ from the finder menu, and then few minutes later I could uncompress it by using “The Unarchiver”. However there are more problems with version 3.11.3. Then they had a problem with 3.11.2, which they think they fixed in 3.11.3. It is based on The Unarchiver, and lets you easily handle Archives on iOS! Download for MacOS - server 1 -> Free The Unarchiver aims to be the only unarchiving program you will ever need, and to stay out of your way.Īlso, if you need to open archives on your iPad or iPhone, look for "Archives" on the App Store, or go to. The Unarchiver also tries to detect and correctly handle the filename encoding in the archives it opens, allowing you to open files from every part of the world without getting garbled filenames. The list is actually much longer - see the program homepage for the full list. It will even open other kinds of files, like ISO and BIN disc images, some Windows. It will also open many older formats, such as StuffIt, DiskDoubler, LZH, ARJ and ARC. It will open common formats such as Zip, RAR (including v5), 7-zip, Tar, Gzip and Bzip2. Or for older OS X versions, grab it here. What does The Unarchiver do? The Unarchiver is a small and easy to use program that can unarchive many different kinds of archive files. Best of all, it’s free! MacPaw purchased The Unarchiver in 2017 and have since been adding features, making it look and run slick and have still kept it free. It can open pretty much ANY archive without issues. The Unarchiver is another app you can find on all of my machines, noth Intel and PPC alike. The Unarchiver – Not much to say about this app, apart from “If you don’t have it, you need to get it right now!”. Links to these older versions can be found at the bottom of their site. You can try out CleanMyMac by going here or clicking the banner above.ĬleanMyMacX requires macOS 10.10 or newer.ĬleanMyMac Classic requires macOS 10.4-10.8 Being able to update all my apps from within CleanMyMac (opposed to check each app website/updater for updates) is pure gold as well. Being able to thoroughly uninstall apps is something I put a lot of value in. They even offer malware scanning now but I have not tested this feature. ![]() I use CleanMyMac to clean up my own systems (on PPC it’s very nice to be able to strip out Intel code from applications, leaving more space and smoother running apps for the PPC) and it’s my uninstaller of choice. You need to familiarize yourself with it’s features and know how the macOS works so you can direct it’s power to the right places. The same thing goes for a popular maintenance app called Onyx. CleanMyMac is a very powerful tool however so if you choose to ignore the warnings, you can potentially mess up your system. If certain actions should not be taken, you are warned. If parts of the system should not be messed with, the app warns you not to mess with it. MacPaw has historically always done their homework. It really has come a long way and I use it often. Trim application fat you don’t need (language files etc)Īnd much more.Free up space by finding and deleting old/unused files. It now offers some of the following features: ![]() Available for both PPC and Intel Macs this app did as promised and has evolved a lot since then. I’ve been using CleanMyMac for over a decade and started using it in 2008. With that cleared up, let’s look at some of the useful features the software offers: “Notarization gives users more confidence that the Developer ID-signed software you distribute has been checked by Apple for malicious components.” states the Apple Developer website. Furthermore, CleanMyMac is notarized by Apple, MacKeeper is not. CleanMyMac is solid and reliable software and the developer/company (MacPaw) has never done anything shady that I am aware of. People have gotten MacKeeper and CleanMyMac confused so many times over the years that they now both have a bad rep. They do very different thing though.ĬleanMyMac – Contrary to popular belief, this is not malware, scareware or any other maliciousware. I have bundled these two apps together as they are from the same developer.
